Sweet man! Great to see the first square back owner! Aren't these the ones that have the Thunderbolt rotation mechanism (yes I read the above posts)?

Yeah it is in great shape! I only had to drive 45 miles or so to get it.

echo1030 wrote:Awesome Sirens, looks like they are both in real good condition!!! Is the Model 7 three or single phase?
The rotor/stator/motor of the Model 7 all need some love, but the housing is surprisingly really nice. Most of the yellow is still there! The Model 7 is three phase. The 2001 is in great shape.
Andys Live WX wrote:Where did those come from? Glad you got an older 2001!
Thanks Andy! The 2001 came from Delano when they got new Whelens. I believe the 7 is from Rockford.

Thanks Mark! Most of the rotator stuff is Thunderbolt. The gear box and motor themselves are different in the 2001, but almost everything else is very familiar.

How does the horn size on that 2001 compare to a Thunderbolt?

The horn on the 2001 is not quite as deep as a Thunderbolt's horn but otherwise they're very comparable in size. I'm going to take the 2001 apart later this week and get it down into my basement. I'll reassemble it next to one of my Thunderbolts and post some pics.

That must've done quite a sore on your back wrestling that beast of a siren off the trailer! Congrats!

Thanks man! My back is apparently opposite most peoples' backs. For example, a few years ago, I threw it out standing up from my seat at Taco Bell. It was out for about two weeks. It only took two trips to the chiropractor to get it straight again. But doing something absolutely stupid, like wrestling a 2001 off of a rampless trailer by myself, doesn't hurt it at all!

I had the same thought! Now that I think about it, using a dolly like he did actually makes moving something like that bearable. Thats how I move a number of my sirens around, either a dolly like that or I use my shop crane.
