Wed Dec 19, 2012 11:56 pm

If you could install a siren system in your city, what sirens would you have and what quantity of them?

Probably P-50s and Cyclones. A county wide system probably. To me that sounds like the ultimate 80's siren system.

At this point I think I would probably use Whelen WPS-2910s, for a few reasons.

1. Omni-directional, so I wouldn't worry about rotator issues.

2. The low tone, so the sound should carry farther.

3. 129 decibels at 100 feet, which is pretty good.
Resident of a county with big a mixture of sirens, but in the process of being replaced. :(

The cost would be outrageous! I think it was more than $10,000 per Penetrator back in the 80's. Adjust for inflation and there you go. I don't remember the cost of a Cyclone though.

Oh, you'd think different when you have some....just saying.

For me, I would install ASC T-128/135's. They are LOUD and they are very effective sirens in the far field.
Kicking it in the siren party since '08

I am a Modulator man to the core, I would love to see a system of Modulators in my area. I am currently working on federal grant to get a second siren for the gated community I live in (we currently have a Sentry 3V8 for the fire department and emergencies). I live across the lake from the siren though and I can't hear it from my house, BUT I have just the perfect area for a second siren to be installed... if I ever slog my way through this grant paperwork. If you ever have the choice between doing Federal grant paperwork or flattening your private areas with a hammer.. please chose a 2 pound sledge!

Hmm.... I would buy 2001-130's and Thunderbolts, and maybe some SD-10's.

uncommonsense

You ought to move to St. Louis. You'd love it there
