Info on small carter-like siren

Mon Sep 17, 2012 1:05 pm

I'm sure TheWoog34 is going to get mad and tell me to get a hand-crank siren instead, but I do what I do, not what someone else tells me to
(unless its the rules, or if someone tells me to stop doing something)

Anyway, I was browsing around for mini mechanical sirens and came across this wonderful double-ended Carter-like mini siren. Scroll down to see it.

It says it is 19 dollars from that seller. it is the Lion King JDW-105 siren.

I have 99% feeling that it is actually hundreds of dollars, but I want to confirm or not confirm that.
IF it is actually the price it says it is, I can afford it and will buy it.

It looks like it has a 7/6 port ratio.

It might be, but as far as I can see it is 6/6. Might be 5/6, and that would make it sound like a real carter.

The spacing between ports is longer on one side, meaning less ports.

So it could very well have a 7/6 ratio, or a 5/6 ratio alike.

Says 50hz on the tag. Hope it's a series wound motor.

It also says 240V. If I bought it and could run it on 60HZ, I'd run it on only 120v.

That would theoretically make it peak at half the 1,050 hertz the 240 volt model is rated to peak.

The only way to find out if it can run on 60HZ would be to contact the manufacturer (Lion King) and ask them.

I would like my original question answered.

IS the 19 dollars it says to sell for the real price of the siren?

I sent them an E-mail requesting various information about it. I asked if it had a Series Wound motor, if it was capable of running on 60Hz, and if approximately 20 US Dollars is the real price.

Well the price is probably different cause that one is obviously used.
