Dakota County, Minnesota Sirens

Mon Aug 01, 2011 11:42 pm

Hey there,

Haven't posted in forever, but my sister and I were talking about how the sirens activated today in Burnsville. She said it was a simple rain and nothing of the sort on the television spoke about a tornado warning, yet they sound the alert tones. Anyone have an idea why?

Thanks,
~Nikki

Could have been for Severe Thunderstorm Warning. The Twin Cities area was under one today. Here's Dakota County's siren info page:

So my sister was wrong that it was just raining, and was in fact a Severe Thunderstorm Warning? That's a bit more understandable, She had me thinking the sirens went off every time it rained :P

Yeah, hey :-)

I wasn't on this siren board for probably a good year, but now I'm checking every day on the Audio/Video form for new videos, especially of Thunderbolt 1000Ts.

Glad to be back!

Look out for the single tone Tbolt video with the pitch warning in Wichita, KS!! Every dog in Wichita probably howls at it when it runs!
