Most likely a Sterling M missing the horns.
Resident of a county with big a mixture of sirens, but in the process of being replaced. :(

Idaho sirens

Fri May 27, 2011 6:04 am

I've found these guys, just curious what they are. Any ideas?

And just for fun, all the sirens in Idaho I have pics of:

EDIT: Found out that the Bonner's Ferry siren and the Downey siren might be Darley Champions. Still no idea on those two electronic ones, I just hope to god that they aren't ATIs.

What makes the electronic sirens odd is the five around the pole on some of the pics, while I guess it could be a custom thing, I've never seen that before.

The Idaho Falls sirens are Whelen WS 2000s. The one with the 4 arrays is a WS 2016, the 5 array I have no idea. I've seen one in a video buried somewhere on YouTube sounding in Tulsa. Sounded like any other WS 2000 I've heard. I've never seen any reference to it anywhere.

I didn't even notice the one on Station 2 (the one without trees around it) had five arrays! Also, there is a 2001 on the ATC tower at Idaho Falls Regional Airport thats been painted red.

Is it possible for you to get pictures?

I can try again. Its mounted on the center of the ATC tower, so you have to be a little far away to see it, plus my camera only has a 3x zoom. Next time I go into town (which should be tomorrow) I will attempt to get some pics.

EDIT: Just to show you how hard it would be to get pics close enough to see the thing but far enough away for the edge of the roof not to block it, heres a streetview pic of the ATC tower. You can't even see the siren :\

I emailed Whelen about an official model number for the five array model, but I'm guessing its 2020.

Sterling M: is Located at the corner of 4th St. and East Water St. near a old White Garage. 39 50'02.95"N 77 13'30.46"W
STH-10: is Located in Legion Alley between East Middle St. and East High St.
Behind the Adams County Housing Authority Building. 39 49'44.79"N 77 13'48.12"W

If you look from Google Earth you can see the shadows from the sirens.
Well that explains ALOT, I was in Gettysburg on my way to work and happened to stop at Kenny's Market for some soda. I heard Gettysburg's tones over my pager and only heard the Sterling going off. I was much closer to the STH-10 (and the Model 5 for that matter) and neither was going off.. thought maybe they broke or something. That Sterling sounds really good though, a darn nice siren!! I wish we ran half as many calls as Gettysburg, sadly us at Company 26 don't get to hear our pager go off very often LOL. Speaking of which, our Sentry went down for a little bit.. thought I was going to have to help spec out a new siren.. I already have visions in my head of something that would blow the people out of the pool.. but it wasn't to be.. it got fixed LOL.
