Re: China's Largest Siren Ever "Defender" is Real *video*

It sounds like it has 7 or 8 ports. It sure has a mighty quick linear wind up for a 220 HP engine driven siren. That has me wondering if they are using the engine to drive a generator and blower. The generator powers a motor that drives the chopper. If that's the case then they could control the output of the siren, which could explain why it sounds so muffled. It could be that they are driving the blower at half speed so they don't blow people's ears to hell and back given that this thing has the potential of a T-135.

The quoted power requirement in the SCMP article converts to 211 horsepower; the specs sheet says 220. So it requires quite a bit more power than the Chrysler did, and yet is 8db quieter? Even a T-135DC is louder...

Makes since to control the output of it, yet I wonder how far away it is from the memorial.

Is there a way to adjust the blower so that it will run at full power?

The Lion King siren has 40 HP more than Chrysler Bell, so is it case of lower decibels, yet more watts of power or is it less efficient in its sound output compared to the Victory siren?

Probably; it could be powered by the accelerator in the cab, though.
