Sedalia, MO sirens

Thu Sep 13, 2012 1:16 pm

Hello. I am reading a book about a tornado that struck Sedalia, MO on May 4, 1977, and was wondering if anyone knows what kind of siren system the city has or had. Thank you!

I know that they currently have 2001's, but I don't know if they have anything else. Here are a couple of videos of their sirens going off during a tornado on 05-20-2010.

I have no idea what they had back in 1977.

They probably had older federal products. Just a guess based on them having 2001s.

Sedalia, MO is my hometown!

Currently, Sedalia is 2001-SRNB country, there are a couple (modern) Model 2s out in some subdivisions that were purchased by the subdivisions, but controlled by the local EMA

The Country Club has an STH-10, however, lightning took that out a few years ago.

Before the 2001s were installed, Sedalia had the common Federal Signal models around the city, T-bolt, 2T22, SD-10 and STH-10 (never saw a 2 or a 5/7 though)

I was born in 1979, the old Federal Sirens is all I ever remember seeing around town before the 2001s came in.
