So that odd, I was told it was one 400 amp driver, but I see here, it (4) 100 amps... :?

Well now wait a moment. The amps and drivers are two entirely separate things. The amps exist as part of the controller, while the drivers exist as a part the speaker array. In fact, the drivers are the speakers.

Thus the driver does the actual noisemaking. The amplifier boosts the output of the audio signal from a weaker production source (the tone generator) to something much larger (high power speaker drivers).

A 400 watt amp can power four 100 watt speakers. This is exactly what Federal does with the UltraVoice (and I'd assume ASC and ATI with their controllers as well).

With a Whelen product, one 400 watt amp powers one 400 watt speaker driver. Still entirely acceptable.

Now I'm no electronics expert, so my explanation may be slightly mangled. I'd have a look here for more info:

You might be surprised where that AS100N driver is made, I am almost positive Taiwan R.O.C.

It could have been a change, or any of a lot of explanations.

The E-Class is ASC's cheapest siren. The I-Force model is much more expensive. I've always thought the E-Class looks like an ATI. I'm pleased that I was'nt the only one that thinks so.

Wait a minute. Is the E-Class cheaper than the T-128?

The E-Class is just a few speakers mounted to a metal bracket. The T-128 on the other hand, has a motor and chopper which the motor is quite expensive and the chopper takes time to make. Plus the T-128 has a housing and the E-Class does not. That's the reason why the E-Class is so cheap.

Keep in mind that the speaker shells on the E Class are from a Chinese manufacturer that also makes them for ATI, so ASC barely makes them other than the controller and mounting bracket.
