I've got a place in my heart for those older Federal electronics (and am warming up to the newer ones). Even if their tone chips get wonky, they do seem to fire up when you need them to and produce one of the more realistic electronic tones (and exceptional for the 80's, too)

And, I, too am interested how that control box works. It almost sounds like there are relays going in there.
