Model 5 issues

I took a video of my fire departments weekly siren test the siren did not work properly.

That is ONE messed up 5. The brushes are gone is my guess.

That is an eight-port siren, so it's probably a Fedelcode and the damper motor/solenoid failed.

No. No one has a clue what it is. It is one of those things no one knows about or cares about.

Same! I was like this is pretty nice then boom! It doesnt sound too bad in the video but 20 feet away from it, it was crazy

There's nothing wrong with the brushes on this low tone 5. Either it's like Daniel said in the comments, and this siren has a damper, or something is blocking the intakes during the wind-down. That's the weirdest sounding wind-down I've ever heard.

Or, the solenoid could be wired in conjunction with the motor, so it engages when the motor engages, and shuts off with the motor too.

That could be the case. When these were made, they came with an obsolete clockwork coding mechanism to actuate the damper, so it's quite possible that when the control system was upgraded and they eliminated the use of coded signals, they wired the damper motor to come on with the siren motor. Otherwise, they would either have to keep it energized through the wind-down or remove the mechanism.
