I didn't think they had any American sirens over there, but that sound is unmistakeable to me.

Yep, that's it! Wow that's a rarity - a foreign country using our sirens.

Thanks for sharing!

Duel tone Alertronics are also extremely rare these days. This is only the second video of one I've ever seen on YouTube.

Hey Andy, actually, that was the first duel tone Alertronic video I had ever seen on YouTube.

We used to have nine or ten of these here in Louisville, Kentucky. As far as I know, they were all duel tone models, and at least one of them was an 8000R, so I'm very familiar with their sound. I used to have at least two recordings that my grandfather made for me of the 8000R, but unfortunately, I think they've been lost forever. The duel tone Alertronics are the only sirens I know of that can do a duel tone Hi-Lo, which sounds very nice BTW.

Then why did you say that you've only seen 2 dual-tone Alertronic videos Josh, including this one in UK? I assumed you've seen KDK's, but it made things sound like you didn't see the video of the one on the ground.

If I remember right, KDK's video was of a newer single tone Alertronic. The one on the ground is the only other duel tone one I've been able to find on YouTube besides this latest one.

I plan on taking a good look through my micro tapes to see if I can find that old recording of the 8000R doing all of it's tones. That was recorded all the way back in October of 1986, about a month or so after the siren was first installed, so the recording is probably long gone. If I ever find it though, I'll definitely post it!

Wow! I've never seen that video! I've also never heard one of these older Alertronics have a soft wind-up like that one does.

Now that I think about it, I think that the video I was thinking of was made by Archon.
