Out of control siren

Sat Feb 28, 2009 4:24 pm

Think someone is messing around with this, or just a fluke?

Since the firemen are over those sirens, the old decoders in them may just be activating to the wrong tone codes.

Sounds nice and clear. Had no Idea they were even still hooked up to power.

They don't sound dual toned, so does anybody have an idea what these things are?

I was thinking it was some type of Federal model 3/5/7, but it's hard to tell for sure.

Its a Decot, I'm pretty sure.
Resident of a county with big a mixture of sirens, but in the process of being replaced. :(

Decot's were either dual toned or single toned 15 port. I doubt that is a Decot, it sounds like a 9 port siren.

Look at the siren in the video:

Here's the closest match I could find to them:

But they're all dual-tone.

I am now beginning to get the feeling they dubbed in the sound in that video and interviewed people after the sirens stopped.

At 0:47 in the video it sounds like they abruptly stopped the sound.

Oh ok. Back when I had posted a topic about Sacramento, I showed photos of 5 different sirens. One is a P-10/15, one is a Thunderbolt 1003, and some of us weren't really sure about the other 3. Ian, before he got banned of course had said he had heard those things were Decots, but he may have possibly made it up.

Dude, I looked at the video also, that's real although edited in a couple of spots and that particular siren is singletoned. The Bay area is littered with sirens like that one and staring at the ones still standing while driving by,I could make out only one row of ports .I still don't know what type they are to this day. That video is the first time I've ever heard that type of siren sound in the 20 plus years I've lived out here.
