Siren name meanings

Tue Jul 15, 2008 9:38 pm

I don't know if there is already a post about this but I'm going to ask it anyways.

It's kind of a dumb question, but in siren names for example a 2001, what does that "2001" stand for? I've been wondering about it for a while and couldn't get a good answer.

More for example would be: 612, T-128, Whelen WPS-2800 series, 1212's, Model 2/5.

Any kind of siren that has numbers in it's name. Does anybody know what they stand for?

In the names Model 2/5, and also in the case of the ACA P-10/15/50, I believe that the numbers indicate motor horsepower.

And in a EOWS 612, there are six speakers...
I left this board in early 2010. I am not a part of the siren community in any sense anymore. I will not provide assistance or information.

They're names - They aren't supposed to mean anything.

Some siren names do have specifications in their names, such as the STL10, which stands for "Single Tone(d) Low 10 H.P."

T-128...Tempest 128 db. Right?
2t22...2 tone 22 horsepower right?
STL-10 Singlel Tone Low 10 Horsepower
STH-10 Single Tone High 10 Horsepower
RSH-10 Rotating Single high 10 Horsepower?
I have always wondered what 2001 stood for.

Also, does EOWS612 mean
Eletronic Outdoor Warning Siren 6speaksers12Watts or something?

Wow I didn't know thats what 2t22 stood for. lol. I knew that the H and L in STx-10's stood for High and Low and I thought the 128 in T-128 was the amount od Db's. But, thanks for your help.

I thought the 3T22 meant 3 tones (signals), 22 cones (12 top row, 10 bottom row)
and for the 2T22 meant 2 tones (signals), 22 cones (12 top row, 10 bottom row)?

3 function Two tone 22 Cones.

2 function Two tone 22 Cones.

2001 is just a series number.

ThunderBolt 1003 1000 series with 3 functions....

NEVER had a clue what "Allertor" meant. Alert Rotator, perhaps?

Hurricane MKII is just simply what ACA felt it should be called. Also MKII because it was the second in it's one little series of Hurricane Sirens.
