This is an odd looking siren.

I believe that's a Darley 2V8. If it isn't, it's at least in that family.Someone22 wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2017 11:54 pmThis is an odd looking siren.

I believe the siren mentioned is actually a Sterling 3v8, here is an image of a 2v8 in Fairmount, GA. The 3v8 is a bit more powerful, has a larger rotor and has a housing with louvers that somewhat resemble those of a Fedelcode.Rheems1 wrote:Definitely a Sterling 2V8, been by it many times.. it used to be mounted on a building across the street, was moved as seen to the back of the firehouse and is now pole mounted next to the firehouse... My mistake because I was typing on my phone and I have large fingers, I meant to type Sterling 3V8 but I hit the 2 instead... Dave for the fat fingered failbobcat418 wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2017 12:58 amI believe the siren mentioned is actually a Sterling 3v8, here is an image of a 2v8 in Fairmount, GA. That would be a Sterling Y-10, the sterling that had coded dampers installed on it. You can tell by the Y shape brackets on the front of that intake. (Don't know if that's where it got it's name or not)spcglensfalls wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2017 10:48 amSo, I have always wondered what this siren is. I believe I self identified it a few years ago but I can't remember what it is.
I feel almost like it's an M-10, but I can't confirm because I haven't heard it.
Coded dampers? Surely you mean the brake mechanism. You'd need really long intakes to have dampers on them. I've only known Sterling Y-10s to have brakes on them, and I'm pretty sure that's the only configuration it was in.MaumeeStormMaster wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2017 11:00 amThat would be a Sterling Y-10, the sterling that had coded dampers installed on it.
