Google Maps: 'Street View' Siren pictures

Wed Jan 30, 2008 3:06 am

I am new to the bored (as of yesterday), so am not sure if this is the right place to post this, but has anyone tried this yet!!?? Go to google maps : http://maps.google.com/maps
Type in a location, and then click 'Street View' in the top of the map. Unfortunatly not every location has a 'Street View', but I have been able to locate a few sirens in Plymouth and Canton MI. The picture quality is surprisingly good.....

Here is one of my favorite locations of one of the sirens in the now "old" Dallas system.

Welcome 07 and thanks for the link.

How does "Street View" work?

I favor the Livemaps.com because the resolution is greater and you can view from 4 different angles, which will often show something like a siren better.

On MSN "MAPS",you can also do "Birds Eye" That's how I found most of the Detroit sirens. The images are a year or so old, Which is nice cause you can see the Thunderbolts and Thunderbeams.

New haven t-bolt from live maps

If this siren is still here 5 years later, I'm going to restore it if New Haven lets me.

Great photo!
Why would they not install it on the roof of that building?
(Or was it already there before the building?)
Seems like much is defeated if not on a roof.
Thanks
(I like the url presentation better so that one can view from 4 directions.)
