Sirens unleashed

Mon Oct 15, 2007 12:35 am

I am letting my little collection of siren pictures loose on the board. I figured keeping them for myself would not help any, so I might as well share them with you. does anybody have any suggestions for a new camera? The zoom on my digital is horrid!

I don't see the siren.

I have a Panasonic DMC-FZ8 12X optical zoom digital camera that I bought from Walmart on-line.
It has a great zoom.

If it wasn't so cloudy, the pic's would've been nicer

There is no siren in the bottom two pictures, I just figured I would share them with you. That zoom on your camera is freakin' awsome!

I love the picture of the Sentry 3V8-H!

I like it alot.
I had a HP camera before. It's ok for video, and close pic's but sucks for distance shots. Si I decided after having that HP one for 5 years, time for a new one.

What a mess. With all that bracing, wouldn't a wood utility pole be cheaper?

Is that siren on the abandoned building still active?

This is also a low-mounted siren.

That's a great zoom on the Panasonic! My old Canon SD230 only has a mild zoom, really doesn't do much. When it's time for a new camera, I'll look into Panasonic.

BTW: The T-bolt on the tall building looks to have a busted or very loose guy wire

Yes, that's a real 500-lb Federal SD-10 I'm holding (braggart!)

Yeah, Lumix cameras are great; Panasonic has exclusive licence on the Leica optics used in those cameras, apparently.

I have no clue if that siren is still active, but the building is vacant. The building is owned by the prison, and the prison by the state, so I have no way of getting it. I could call a few people, but it would be for the most part pointless. :( I am going to record a STL-10 tonight, that is if the Fire Department stays with schedual...monday nights at 7 all sirens in this county are tested, which is one way for me to check if that other siren works.

sure enough they were on schedual, but i must smash my recording device with a hammer. The past four recordings I have got are all worthless because it can not handle the DBC's, so does anybody have any suggestions for a amazingly good recorder? I am just so mad...I had to drive around town for half an hour waiting for that, and it was worthless for a recording!
