Dang! Even simple ear protection wouldn't be enough for blocking any of sound emitting from this low mounted 2T22A. And can you tell me why they chose to put the 2T22 siren on a fifteen to twenty foot pole? And was this college still there when this 2T22 was installed back in the fifty's? Or not. And when did California decided on discontinue all of there cold war Civil Defense sirens?
They really aren't all *that* loud...

Centerhill VFD has that 3t22 that's on the ground. I believe it sounds because the wire is connected.

First off: I agree with storm XT22s are loud but not like ground rumbling loud... Iirc the 2t22 and stl-10 are at the same db level... Or maybe the 2t22 and the model 5... The stl-10 and model 5 had a 1 db difference last I checked. Anyways they are loud enough to hear them but honestly... Even though they were close... I didn't cringe at any of them. That ground mounted 2T22 however...

That one in Braman is pretty low, but what's weird is on a good day and at the right angle, you can catch a glimpse of it from I-35.

Pretty sure I currently hold the position of "lowest mounted siren in the US"... my Jailbar siren I finished re-painting is currently mounted in my living room!

Thanks man! The restoration was a fun project. I first put paint stripper on with a brush and scraped off all the paint that I could, then (and yes I wore a ventilator) I put a wire wheel on my power drill and high-speed scraped the rest of the paint off down to bare metal, then I went to Lowe's, got a can of gray primer and two cans of safety yellow and I primed the siren and painted two layers of paint, and now it's mounted on two pieces of stained wood in my living room. The control panel is currently on my porch because I'm still working on it.

If I was American (which I'm not) I would NOT like to live next to that model 3/5/7
