[EDIS] annual test of early warning system sirens sat 25 aug 2007

Dear Subscriber,

For your information, today (SAT 25 AUG 2007) the San Luis Obispo County Early Warning System will conduct the annual siren test at 1200 noon and 1230 hours.All 131 sirens will sound at full volume for at least 3 minutes.THIS IS ONLY A TEST. END OF MESSAGE

Instruction:
For more information during the test, please call the County Emergency Operations Center, 543-2444. END

I didn't know they had them... There's a state prison there, but that probably doesn't have anything to do with the big system the article refers to. I wonder what the early warning system is to warn about? SLO is fairly inland to worry about tsunamis, and those 3 volcanoes along Hwy 1 between SLO and Morro Bay are totally dormant (I HOPE :shock: )
