Detroit

Wed Aug 15, 2007 6:13 pm

Trying to record these old sirens is something relatively new to me. It seems that I get interested in something at the right time, I went to check out 2 Detroit Thunderbolts that have ALWAYS been there and both were GONE and REPLACED with new equipment. I was suprised.. It had to have been done within the past 5 months.

I saw this while going thru Marine City (MI) today.
Is this a 2t22?

It sits atop the police station/Municipal building. I'm going to go back this Saturday to get better pic's.

Here's a closer shot..

That is so funny. We're all laughing, J. Thanks.

What is the port count of the Sterling shown above? Is the far stator an octave higher?
Looks like it was kept well oiled.

I would remove those two weather cowls and let the siren speak louder.

Would the lower photo be an STH 12 --12 cones?

The number in the name of "STH-10" stands for the horsepower in the siren, not the number of ports on it.

The red Sterling siren shown has sixteen-to-eight port-ratio.

Sounds like a big excuse to me!
Federal Signal Thunderbolt Series, still the King of Air Raid Sirens!
