So just recently I found an ACA alertronic 4000 in Shirley mass. It has a whelen type 1 control box but then a smaller box underneath the has the ASC logo but says ACA on it, same thing with a small box on the side of the large whelen box. Power is connected and turned on. So what I’m wondering and most of my siren friends are wondering is that what the siren IS used for or WAS used for. There is no threat of flood of severe weather where the siren is located, there is no firehouse near it ,it is not near a nuclear power plant, it is near an army base but is not considered active, it is also near by a prison which is known as max security prison which had a riot about a year ago. If anyone has any information about this siren or maybe even a system it is part of please respond to this forum or email me at [email protected]. Thank you

That's not a Whelen box. ACA box looks like the battery compartment. I wonder if the upper box is some kind of fabricated new box for the ACA controls (ex. If the original box rusted).

Also the three arrow logo was the ACA logo well before ASC brought it back. No ASC markings from what I see.

Looks nice! Always wanted to hear one of these; how loud are they?

I haven't heard the 4000, but I can tell you that the 8000 from that same era isn't exactly deafening. These would be good for a large park or sports complex, and that's about it. Amarillo still has one of these in operation, and you can find a couple of videos of them on YouTube.

Don, do you think you can see if they would be willing to give them up? I can use one of those.
