Hard to imagine that 1 month ago I attempted to record the same monthly test while wearing hat & gloves! Despite being a bit windy, this month fared much better. The city of Platteville has 7 of these sirens, and they are tested on the first Wednesday of the month right around noon. Wail signal is used for firecalls (Platteville has a volunteer fire department), Alert signal is used for tornadoes, and the Public Address function is pretty self explanatory. At the beginning you can hear the siren not far down the road at the fire department doing it's daily noon blast. Unsure if those DTMF tones have anything to do with it. The siren in the video is located at Waite Park on the city's north side.
