I know I can hear a whelen WPS 2806 at least for three miles loud and clear, but I want to know if you can hear one from 6 miles away.

It's possible. A lot of it has to do with the weather conditions at that moment. I've heard a 2909 from roughly 6 miles away and a Vortex from almost 10 miles away.
