Hancock County Indiana Siren System Upgrade

As many of you who live in or near the state of Indiana probably already know, Hancock County is currently in the process of upgrading its tornado siren system. 22 new sirens are being installed...some will replace older sirens and others will be installed for additional sirens. I heard a rumor from Michael that the options for new sirens are down to 508s or T-128s, however I have yet to confirm if that is true. So far the only sirens that I know of that are being replaced are the Model 5 in Charlottesville (which has been dead for years) and a 2001-SRN off of US 40 in Greenfield. (Supposedly the Thunderbolt 1003 at the Greenfield Police Department which has a broken and radio issues is being fixed and not replaced...find it odd how Hancock County is seemingly replacing a 2001 but not this siren.) The rest of the older sirens are getting repaired, and of course the newer sirens like the T-121 in New Palestine and green 2001-130 will likely last for at least another 10 years.

UPDATE: They went with 508s.

I cannot find the Greenfield 1003 anywhere. where is it?

The address is 116 South State St. Greenfield, IN 46140. And unfortunately that siren is actually being replaced. I don't know what the county is planning on doing with it once they take it out; the EMA director told me that that is still being worked out

Also it looks like the 1003 in Greenfield is the only siren being replaced

It will be replaced with a 508 in Late 2018.

They should make the 508s green to match with the Girl scout 2001 130

They should, but a few have already been installed, and they are white

Surprisingly, the replacement was actually a 2001-130.
