The entire unit.
Not to sound like a "kiddie" but if they replace my favorite siren....
I talked with the Deputy Director and he said that they are trying to keep as many sirens as they possibly can in order to save money, so this siren might actually get fixed and not replaced since I'm sure a new gear reducer is a heck of a lot cheaper than uninstalling and installing a brand new siren
A new siren runs anywhere from $7000-$26000, so definitely cheaper.

Yeah so they will most likely keep it. Sounds to me like the county is trying to save as much money as they possibly can

Good luck finding one for it, well the correct one rather.

We don't know for sure that the gear reducer is even the issue...

My point on it still stands though.

I emailed the director a few days ago and she said that this siren is being fixed and not replaced

I've listened a little closer in the video, and this is in fact a 4M unit.

The screaming makes it obvious that it is, and keep in mind that 5Ms are rather uncommon, especially on 1003s.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense, plus the blower has vents on the cover.

Sorry for the bump on this topic, but I found out that this siren was installed in 1968, which would indeed make it a 4M. It JUST missed being a 5M though, which kind of upsets me.

Also this siren was replaced with a 2001-130 in August of 2018. I’m not sure what exactly was done with it, but I’m assuming WSS has it in their scrapyard
