Moorpark, CA T-bolt tested today; last Fri of month @ noon

Sat Jun 30, 2007 7:03 am

Since I installed the single phase T-bolt on our deck, today was the 3rd successful "last-Friday-of-the-month" test. This time, I ran a long wirepair into the house, and activated the siren from inside. I ran 3 full cycles  . The first two Friday tests were done from the key switch installed near the siren. A bit loud being so close!

I have it just about set perfectly for how long the blower stays on after the power to the chopper is cut, and it sounds great! For the next test in July, I'll set up to get a GOOD audio recording of it. Time permitting, I MIGHT EVEN have the other T-bolt; a 3-phase single tone 1000, installed on a pole at the other end of the ranch... Doubtful for July though. Aiming for August.

Yes, that's a real 500-lb Federal SD-10 I'm holding (braggart!)

You should try to set the Thunderbolt off on the 4th of July! (Hopefully you'll not have that many guests over and they'll realize what you're doing. Oh, and don't do it illegally.)
If your siren is a-failin'
Chances are that it's a Whelen
And if it's just about to die
Then it must be an ATI

I would like to see a t-bolt blower in action. In your spare time, could you make a video of yours? :?:

Sure! I can do that... Is it OK if I just run the blower (no chopper?) That way, I won't "overdo it" with sounding the siren, and I could do it today or tomorrow.

FINALLY, weeks after I promised; here's the video of the T-bolt blower. I was gone to Canada and Alaska for 10 days , so by the time I got home last Sunday, I figured I'd film the blower today with my "Last Friday of the month" test so as to have the whole siren running.... Audio is BAD since I put the camera fairly close to show the blower. If any YouTube issues, please post and I will repost the video on Photobucket.

That's an awesome video! I have always wanted to see what the blower looked like in action. The belt spins slower then i imaged it would.
