Ooh, I really like that third one! Also, I heard that the Model 5 is active. Is this true?
If you are talking about the one that is "ground mounted," then yes. That is an active water release/flood siren.

Yes, that would be the one!

Here's some good ones I took of the last two out of the seven total sirens in Independence, Ohio I have yet to photograph. One is a Federal 5AT located in a residential area (some resident actually confronted me claiming I was in 'his yard' even though I was on a city owned sidewalk on a city owned street taking pictures of city property; I was standing right next to the siren pole which is right next to the sidewalk; I wasn't technically in his yard and the siren is city property which means the land around it is also city property, but I just left after that because he was being a real jerk) on Eastview Drive near Brookside Rd., and the other is the disconnected Model 2 located on top of the Historical Society Building (old fire station) in downtown Independence. The first siren I took pictures of I got good shots of the control box and the ID tag; I'd have to guess it's from the late 70's or so considering that their name was already Federal Signal Corporation by that time but before they moved from Blue Island, Illinois to their current facility in University Park.

Your 5T is from '82 roughly fire freak... That makes it one of the latest 5Ts out there, and the latest I know of personally.

Thank you! I am planning to take a trip up to the Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant in Cuyahoga Heights to see if I can get any pictures of the Thunderbolt 1000T there. It’s deep in the plant and there’s a huge perimeter fence around it so I may not be able to get shots of it, let alone see it because it’s on their property and there’s a security gate you must pass through to get in and it may be obstructed by something.

As far as videos go, I am planning to get a video of either the Federal 508 at Waite Elementary in Medina or the Sentry 40V2T in Litchfield Township for Medina County’s Test this weekend (the 508 being more likely since it’s less of a drive) and next weekend if I can make it I will attempt at recording one of those sirens in Independence. I want to call their FD to confirm a few things because their 5T’s I’ve never heard before (only the Thunderbolts and the last 5T I was at failed to activate). But that may have been due to their test time change, something else I also need to confirm. I might go to the Thunderbolt or the recently restored 5T that was taken down, repainted, and appears to be back online. After all, why repaint a siren on a pole and not use it? I want to ask their FD about that too, because I may go to one of those 5AT’s instead since Independence tests Alert and Attack, or the Yellow jailbar Thunderbolt since it sounds a lot healthier than the white one does. Or I may revisit the white 5T and hope it goes off. We’ll have to see, hopefully I can find out some further info and hopefully those 5AT’s are in fact up and working because I’ve been dying to hear one and they have like 5 of them so I hope they’re not broken. But as I said earlier, why repaint a siren and leave it hooked to power if it doesn’t work? We’ll see what happens.
