I met up with Jeff for this one. It was very quiet and was no louder than a headset at 2/3 power. The echoes were simply amazing. I couldn't hear it through my headphones when it started. I doubt it could be heard from more than 3/4 of a mile away vs the typical 1 1/2 mile radius. Thanks for watching.
Also some jerk in the truck at the end had to bang his trailer all hard. 'Twas going fast for a parking lot.

You shouldn't rate a siren based on how loud it is when you are wearing hearing protection. Of course it will seem quieter. I have yet to wear hearing protection at any of my siren tests (SRNs, 130s, 508, 2910). Any idea how long until they slap a 2910 up on that pole?

No, I had some cheap headphones on listening to music before the test and I couldn't hear it start up. After that I took them off and compare the the two and the headphones were a tad louder. Also it had a lot of popping and didn't even tickle my ears one bit when it faced towards me, when I was 50 feet from the siren. It's too bad this one is very quiet. No I was NOT wearing hearing protection. This will be up for a long time just as long as the rotator works.
