Is this part of an alarm system or something?

There are these random USB ports on the wall in my school. They all seem to be placed by a door or emergency exit and nothing is plugged into any of them. I plugged my USB power bank into one of them and it started charging, so these ports are connected to something somewhere. I originally posted this on Reddit a few weeks ago but nobody could give a clear explanation. Maybe some of the alarm-geeks here could figure this one out? :P

Maybe it's just a USB power supply?

But why would there be one in all the exit doors?

Probably to send open/close commands to the computer module that closes and opens the doors (as this is and access control unit). My school uses maglocks and relay nodes connected to the monster 80 zone fire panel.

I would have maybe thought they would be for a schoolwide monitor or tv system, does such a thing exist?

I do know all these doors are wired up to a button panel in the secretary's office and she can remotely unlock the doors to "buzz" people in and out of the building but there's no remote opener type thing.

There is, but you'd have to use HDMI or VGA for the video.
