Images Of The ACA PN-20 Siren In Romeoville Illinois

Tue Jun 07, 2016 11:44 pm

Hey Guys,

Just went to record the ACA PN-20 siren in Romeroville Illinois today. I got a chance to meet Siren Hunters and we both recorded this ACA PN-20 siren. It was amazing. It sounded much louder than a modern today siren. It looked like it's been there for thirty-five to forty years. The only thing that looked kinda new on it was the radio relay box from Federal Signal. It was kinda wired to see a Federal Signal radio relay box on a ACA PN-20 siren. But it works and that's main thing haha. And by the way this siren is going to get replaced by the end of this year sadly. But the really nice thing is that the Romeoville EMA is going to keep the Civil Defense Yellow color on the Federal Signal 508 siren. Witch I will also record after they replaced the ACA PN-20 siren.

I had to go out to Joliet today and on the way home, decided to do a drive by of this siren. It was around 2PM. It will be gone by the end of the summer I would say. The siren has been there since the early 1990's. It has a Federal controller/radio on it since the rest of the system is Federal and they use the Federal Commander SCADA system.

Sure was a great test! The Federal radio makes sense, as I heard FSK tones over my scanner.

Yeah. Can you tell me what does FSK stands for? I know should be knowing this but I don't.

Frequency-shift keying.

Shame this old beast will be gone soon, but those are some pretty good photos of it!
Don't wait. Take a siren photo today.

Oh ok didn't know. Yeah... I know it's a shame. But it's going to be replaced with a Federal Signal 508 in Civil Defense Yellow. To keep the history. Thanks.

Oh ok didn't know that. Yeah that does make sense onto why it has a Federal Signal radio relay box on it. Because most of the sirens around it are Federal Signal sirens.

Interesting on the yellow part. If i am correct, dont they have a white 2001 and modulator along with their yellow every other model 2001?

They took over a white 2001 from Lockport township. It will probably be repainted at some point. They also took over a T 128 in Plainfield. They also have a white mod and a white 508. Everything else is yellow.
