I think everyone should meet at the grave site and only the hurse (sp?) and family in limos should be escorted. That is safe. Families with 5000 people attending spread out for miles going 25 mph strung though red lights and cause more funerals. They get stopped or seperated then they fly at speed greater than the posted max to catch up to the parade. Seems stupid and dangerous. The body and the imediate family should be escorted by REAL police in REAL police cars.
Q2B or not 2B that is the question.

I support "fake cops" leading funeral processions. Like many have said, many motorists do not have respect for funeral processions. In fact, a funeral escort person was killed a few weeks ago by somebody who ignored a funeral procession.

Here in Ohio, they used to allow sheriff's deputies to escort funeral processions. I don't see what is wrong with allowing off-duty officers to simply escort a family from funeral home to cemetary.

All the escorting and lights are for the sake of keeping the procession together without some being left behind at a light or a mourner getting lost on the way to the cemetery. Seems like a legitimate interest to me. I pull over if I'm aware of them and always wait at a stop sign or light so the whole procession can go through.

Interesting takes on this subject. I was leading funerals with my hearse when our hearses were still being used as our ambulances. I had a siren under each hood. Did I ever use them? Not once. If I had them today would I use them? No, not any need. The lead car in my funeral processions has a purple strobe bar on the dash and our hearse has wigwags and an amber LED lightstick by Signal positioned directly behind the rear view mirror. I never have any trouble getting through traffic to the cemetery as my processions are always flagged and tagged. People still respect funeral processions here. You should maybe take a lesson in respect q2bman. Just my take on the subject.

In many states, people are required to pull over for a funeral procession. Likewise in England, the Rolls-Royce emergency service vans have lights and sirens(!) and people are required by Crown Order to pull over for them.
