Range of 2T22

Thu May 31, 2007 1:58 am

After trying to stretch a dollar out of as penny, I have come to realize that it looks like I may only be able to get one of these 2T22's moved. What I am trying to figure out is how much range this 2T22 will give us. The major cost and headache on this project is getting the poles and sirens moved. The way that I look at it, one is better than none so right now I am just trying to get one going and get the others as money permits. If anyone can give me a calculated guess, i am curious as to the range of one siren.

Cost of pole and siren moved? You can roof mount those sirens if needed, or just lower a streetlight on a pole thats already in place and plop them on top.

How big is the town your trying to warn? I know you said something about a population of 1000 in previous posts...

My numbers are probably far off but I think it's around 1 - 1 1/2 miles @ 60db. Feel free to correct me.

Finding and planting a pole is the major expense.
Can you find an existing class 2 pole on which to mount it?

For roof mount, I moved a 2t22 by myself by removing all 22 cones - weighs 110 lbs - and removing the top and bottom intake tubes.
That left the center section []=[] to man-handle with several fellow firefighters.

Our biggest problem was finding three-phase power - if you need that.

A 2T22 has a range of 2,400ft. at 70 dB and a range of 4,800ft. at 60 dB.

What he's saying is that the sirens are up on poles right now.
He's wanting to pull the poles with the siren on it and replant the
thing.

Under ideal conditions. Terrain will retard this distance.

The word retard does not only mean a person of dim-wit. Only persons who use retard in that context are them themselves. A dictionary is useful.

Retard is incorrect here.
You cannot slow distance.
You can diminish the distance at which the siren is heard.
Or shorten, reduce or lessen distance.

I might just be in luck. I called a guy today that has a crane and he said that he would relocate them if he could get his truck into the locations. So I am supposed to meet him tomarrow and go take a look. He sounded fairly determined to move them for us.
