Well, it is too bad my MP3 player wont pic up a hard to notice noise from the distance I was at. If I was to even run over to the siren to get a complete wind-down, it would ruin the recording anyway.

I have never seen a Federal Model 5 come with a cast iron rotor. The only time I have ever seen one in person was on a Sterling Little Giant, but just cause I don't know about it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

can someone tell the differance between a model 3, 5 or 7 by looking at the housing? I found a unused Mod, and I am curious as to what it is although I know you would not be able to tell the tone setup without looking at the stator.

What is the difference between these models?
Is it simply motor horsepower?
RPM attained?
Or higher HP motor means faster rise, but they achieve the same RPM?

The siren would cycle over and over till someone hit the stop button inside the radio room, or next to the timer. Sadly, this box was removed in the 1980s, due to a lot of false alarms, and is now inside the station on display.
Surprised someone would do that. Breaking the glass IS a deterrant. Too bad they do not have a camera to photograph whomever sounds the siren.

The "Model" sirens have a difference in size and horsepower - the Model 2 produces two horsepower; the Model 3 produces three horsepower: you get the idea.

I know about the horsepower ratings, but I want to know if the model 3, 5 and 7 have differences in the housing that illustrate the model. like I know the models 1 and 2 have three louvers, but would there be a differance in louvers for the 3, 5 and 7 so they can be ID'd as such.
