Low tone model 5 or 7 recording!

Thu May 24, 2007 11:07 pm

I took a lot of effort to get this recording, I hope everyone enjoys it even though it sucks. The only thing I have to record stuff with is my MP3 player, and I was too friggin close to the siren so on the wind up there is a crackleing noise. I had to plain cut off the wind-down for my accidental commentary and more crackleing. siren 2.mp3 - 0.41MB

Wow! What a beautiful sounding old Federal! Anyone care to do a port count?

I'm imaging the siren is blue, and has 8 blades/ports.

Very nice recording! I wish our model 5 sounded like that. It sounds more single tone

Nice! I'm guessing an eight port Model 5.

This sounds like an 8-port, Model 5 to me. I have been around both Model 5s and 7s, to me that sounds like a Model 5. Great siren!

I am also putting my money on the 8 port rotor..... this is a very nice recording of this siren. Alot of the older styler Federal sirens had a really, really slow wind up... but this one sounds good. Nice clean peak and good wind down. Nice recording and thanks for sharing!!

its definitely 8 port, cause it sounds EXACTLY like the Allertors here in town. GREAT recording.

So, to report a fire and summon volunteer firefighters, must the glass be broken and one presses the upper button?
