SUPER WHELEN TO THE RESCUE!!!!

Tue May 22, 2007 2:43 pm

So yesterday around 9:30, our 3016's started kicking on. AND THEY WERE LOUD AS HELL!!!

Most of the time you'll hear a very faint "rrrr" coming from outside. But, THIS
TIME!!!

They sounded like they where "SUPER WHELEN" sirens.

Anybody want to guess why this was???

Could that be it? I thought that sirens ran on the same power in a test as they did when warning of an event.
If your siren is a-failin'
Chances are that it's a Whelen
And if it's just about to die
Then it must be an ATI

I would say that the siren horn was facing your direction as it went into alert mode (I am assuming). Whelen's sirens run on the same power be it a test or emergency. Do some logical thinking and one could determine the horn was obviously facing you when the siren started up.

Probably because you over dramatized the situation and thought you heard something.

Your making no sense.

'Whelen Rules' is right, there are only two power modes: Off and Exorbitantly loud.

Weather does influence acoustics though, so were you 'down-wind' of the siren that day? Was it warm or cool?
You could also be referring to the current flowing through the control boxes if you were standing X metres away.
AND THEY WERE LOUD AS HELL!!!
No surprise there. Sirens from the word 'go' are manufactured to achieve this goal.

Maybe they installed a new whelen near your house
Leaving Forever. I blew it big time.
