ACA Howler all finshed

Here is picture of my ACA Howler 9/12 repainted,, new belts (2), transmission oil changed (old oil was like tar), greased, slip ring cleaned, changed form 480v to 240v. If I may ask, what is the difference between those and the P-series? I know they look a lot alike, but with smaller motors.

At least this sort of answers the question about the square-backed "Penetrators" that were in the photos from Fort Worth that floated around long ago.

I always thought the Howler was a variation of the Allertor?

The ACA sirens with the smaller back housings had no belt drive.

How powerful is the motor and is it single phase or three phase?

So did I. If I recall, the Howler was the actual name for the Belt-Driven Allertor.

None the less, awesome job there! COuld you possibly video it when you test it? I've never seen a square rotator box like that before!

Howler is belt driven(2) the allertor is chain driven (1). Has 18 inch rotor. 10 hp Baldor motor. this one is 3 phase. Since it was made in 1987 It has the newer shroud on it. I also have the pole bracket for it to.

Howler: 18 inch rotor
Allertor 20 inch rotor
Howler Belt 2 of them
Allertor Chain drive 1 of them
Howler Belt off back of motor to transmission than belt from transmission to main shaft.
Allertor Gear box off back of motor to chain spocket chain pulls in around main shaft.
Howler 10 HP motor 1 or 3 phase
Allertor 10hp 1 or 3 15hp 1 or 3 25hp 1 phase.
Both made in Mequon or Milwaukee WI.
Both rotate Counter Clockwise.
Howler 9/12 or 8/12
Allertor 9/12 8/12 8/0
Mobile Directo 10/12

Is a ACA Howler the same thing as a ACA Penetrator?? Because they llok the same.

You mentioned that you changed it back to 220 from 480... Did you change the motor to a single phase one, or is it still 3 phase?

I'm envious that you got that looking so good... The T-bolts are still not having begun restoration :oops:
