Whelen 3016 Voice & 2001 SRN Alert

caught this dirty and unhealthy sounding (due to the popping sound during voice) rarity that really surprised me with voice! The siren that can be heard is a 2001 Roundback that is unbelievably high pitched. this siren is located in Gate #1 (near Columbia Drive) at the Ingredion Corn Plant in Bedford Park. Enjoy!

Probably the oldest known WS-3016 to have it's original controller doing digital voice.

Anybody else notice that it only rotates a half circle?

There are a few of these close together at this plant. I have never seen them face away from the plant after tests. My guess is they aren't supposed to.

This one was on the very corner of the plant, so I assume they customized the rotation so it only rotates 90° to face the plant while not confusing residents far away from it on the other side.

Yeah it almost sounded like a Whelen airhorn. Not sure what that was. Could have been from the Kinder Morgan storage plant next door.

And is it just me or are these the highest pitch Whelen's you've ever heard? They almost sound like 2001's. Did anyone else catch the incomplete first windup? It sounds like it started halfway. The rest of them start at a lower pitch. Could have been the way it was pointed too.

That horn(s) are probably inside and around the actual processing facility. I did a quick search and it looks like they handle a lot of raw grain type materials which make a pretty fantastic boom display if they catch on fire. The main purpose of this system would probably be for a big fire, if I had to guess.
