I was wondering what type of sirens oklahoma city used before the whelens they currently have

I think they had Thunderbolts and SD-10s like Norman.

I think they had primarily Thunderbolts in their system. They've had Whelen sirens for a very long time, probably since the mid-1980s.

Their old system of 44 sirens, consitied of T-bolts installed in the 50s/60s and Penetrators installed 1981-1982. in 2002 a system of 71 2800s and 111 Vortexes went up, and are currently protecting the city. They're tested every Saturday at 12:00PM CST in one round of whoop than alert for 3 minutes, which is also used for tornado warnings.
