San Onofre N.G.S. plant T-bolt STILL THERE and looks SHARP!

Thu May 17, 2007 6:30 pm

As discussed in a past topic, the S.O.N.G.S. nuclear plant in San Onofre, CA has installed all new electronic sirens, and done away with the custom-made Toshiba mechanical sirens.

I had mentioned a couple months ago having driven past the plant, and not seeing a T-bolt that I had previously seen. GOOD NEWS: It (or another one) is still there. It's on a pole to the south of a building at the very north end of the compound. The chopper and horn arse'y looks shiny and new, but the blower housing is either painted brown or is old & rusty. I bet they had the chopper bearings replaced, and the top overhauled and reinstalled! Link to LiveLocal is below. The T-bolt is in the center of the picture, between a 1-story bldg and a red cargo container. I didn't get a photo myself. I tried, but I was on the freeway and I got a blurry picture of a tree instead of the T-bolt  . I'll try next time.

I'm not sure, but the Bolt looks pretty clean. I would think it would be all corroded and shot if they hadn't done something with it lately, since it's only a few dozen yards from the ocean. I wonder if they'd tell what's up with it? Didn't someone say they have an eMail contact with SONGS?
