In Yantai, China, I saw two Chinese sirens up close. (Molested one)
They appeared in excellent condition, no corrosion anywhere, and these are downwind of ocean air. I have seen American sirens in dry Colorado which do not look that good!

I do not believe Chinese have copied American sirens at all.
They have merely designed a most efficient model, which happens to look identical to American makes.
There is no patent infringement.

However, the "Streethawk" light bars I saw looked exactly like our two Federal Signal Streethawks.
Even the location of the logo appears exactly the same.
I assumed they were Federal Signal products.
Had my wife not stuffed our suitcases for our return, I would have considered purchasing two clear Streethawk domes there.

I don't know, Robert. When Lion King is using serial numbers like STH21-2 and M2, which are obviously taken from Federal Signal, one has to wonder.

There definitely is. I've seen the insides of several copied Chinese sirens and they are the exact same thing Federal Makes. This goes for warning sirens, as well as StreetHawks, JetStreams, PA300's, etc....

As long as they don't intrude to much in Federal's market, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

I'm not against them, as they have some interesting original designs, but a lot of it is copied.

I stand corrected about the seventeen years. It is twenty now, but It did *used* to be seventeen.

I'm suggesting Federal's patents on the Model 2 and its brethren may be expired. Of course they've been around far longer than 20 years and, unless the patents have been renewed somehow, that's it.

As far as the light bars go, don't forget there could be licenses we don't know about (but I doubt it).

I think it's 20 years before one has to seek renewals.
What makes it even more interesting is that the identification plate on this siren is almost exactly the same as the one used by Federal Signal, though the Model A that I repaired had a similar badge, but with 'Wailing Joe' instead of Federal Signal. Need a higher resolution shot.

Hmm, maybe one day I might be able to buy out Federal Signal
Yeah maybe...the same day I open my own power plant.

Crap I forgot about 2001s and Whelens. Too popular.

Maybe they will try to copy a Thunderbolt, a 2T22, or a 2T. I'd buy one of those.

I thought they already made a copy of a 2T22?

That dual tone siren looks more like a Sentry copy than a 2t22.

You're definitely right now that I look at it again. I thought the model named had 2T22 in it but it is actually an LK-STH21-2.
