Sirens + Guns = ?

Sun Feb 15, 2015 4:01 am

So, this is basically a thread for sirens that someone just felt like taking a gun to for whatever reason (Thanks IRC chatroom!) To get this mystery tour started, I have two good contenders, both Thunderbolts.

First up is my Thunderbolt that we all "know and love". The rain guard on the chopper tube looks as if a stray bullet hit it. From what I was able to figure out, a 9mm Luger or a .38 Special round are the possible culprits. I do not have a photo of this up close. You can see it in this photo, however:

Lastly, is Cobb Siren #22. This thing came from an area of DeKalb County that is not exactly the best area (Medlock Rd. area) and has seen a hard life of course. With these bullet holes in it, I almost wonder if there is any more damage on the siren from it being shot. I will have to give credit to murrfarms for the photo since all of mine are absolute rubbish at showing the holes

So, let this begin, what others are out there?
24, and not dead yet.

I think we all agreed from my latest model 2 restoration thread that the armature on mine has been shot with a 38 or 22 mag.

This is from one the Vortex units in Fort Worth. Bullet narrowly missed the batteries.

I've ran across several Thunderbolts with bullet holes and dings in the horn from missed shots.

Here is that 2001 that Bill mentioned that I found. Located in the desolate little community of Wyatt off of IN331.

Fools shooting at sirens are most likely the same fools that shoot at insulators and transformers.

And road signs.
(I've also seen traffic lights with bullet holes in the lenses.)

Does anyone have 3 logical reasons why some fool would shoot at a siren?
