Pilger, NE SRNB sounding in alert

Tue Jun 17, 2014 5:22 am

Been a while since i've posted this stuff.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10 ... 69&fref=nf

Google street view shows a newer-ish 2001 SRNB siren in the town. As far as I could tell, this siren took a direct hit from the tornado... along with the rest of the town. =|The tornado path appeared to have moved from the SW to the NE, southeast of the water tower in this town. Video appears to be recorded from about 3/4 mile north of town, looking south eastward into the town. Give's you an idea of the sound distortion that occurred with the tornado plus debris colliding versus the siren's tone.

Savage and I have spent a lot of time looking through photos trying to confirm if the 2001 survived or not. A photo he found pretty much confirms it is no longer standing.

Pilger also has a Darley Model 5. As far as I can tell, from an aerial photo by Nebraska Emergency Management, is possibly still on it's tower.

The darley looks like it's MIA to me.

Still looks like it's there to me, albeit naked. You can see it on the aerial photo, if you know what you're looking for.

I knew what I was looking for, but I probably didn't see the siren at first glance. Thanks!

Every time I here a 2001 along with a tornado always gives me the creeps.
My knowledge excels on the Federal Thunderbolt siren and SiraTone EOWS sirens. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So here's an interesting image...

https://www.google.com/maps/@42.006164, ... uy3-nA!2e0 from Fall of 2012. Shows no siren at this location (might be slightly off on location of this road). However, https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =1&theater shows a little red siren taken the other day. Ideas?

edit; I found the FS-2001SRNB... it's... just not there anymore, just the lower portion of the pole and it appears to be the controls.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =1&theater
Another angle: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =1&theater
Somewhat closer, close to the top right of the picture, you can see the controller boxes; https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =1&theater

The siren at the fire department according to the newst pictures, is actually still standing. Aerodynamics is a pure science to me with some structures and severe winds. The damage that this tornado did is purely substantial, to the point of no words.

I think it's safe to say the 2001 is gone. As for the red thing, I almost want to say it's a beacon of some sort for a helicopter landing site. It looks temporary.

EDIT: I found another photo of the Model 5. Despite the missing housing, it appears that it is still intact.

Yea. I can hear the 2001 being silenced and warbled after the tornado passes through. You can hear it wind down then stop. Poor 2001. Got thrown right off it's pole into someone... All I can hope for is that it didn't get thrown on someone. They are pretty friggin heavy sirens.
Own and love a Thunderbolt 1000 and a Model 5.

I have many hobbies and interests. And I love them all.

The red beacon appears to be the tail of the helicopter, hence the shadow. I still can't believe how only one person is dead, even though it went right through the town. Crazy... Seems like they all took shelter.
