A SD-10 in Rapid City had a similar box mounted by its RCM. I'm assuming a lot of the older sirens in the pennington/meade county stretch along I-90 had that upgrade due to a large amount of New ASC T-something's that were installed in the area.
I went through the area on a cross-country road trip in early October and visited both Sturgis and nearly the entire Pennington County system...and yes, most of the sirens in both have ASC radios on them, with the possible exception of the Model 2 at Sturgis' main fire station, which had no boxes outside at all. I'd be very curious to see if Piedmont's 3T22 is still used for anything...it's kind of redundant with a T-128 a block away.
Beyond radios, Pennington County's ASC purchases consist of four fresh E-Classes - two in Hill City, one basically next door to Wall Drug, and one on the south side of Rapid City proper. Otherwise though, for those who aren't familiar with the area, it's still a gob-smacking mishmash of Federal, ACA, and Whelen, original controllers and all. I'm amazed nobody's filmed there yet...and I may remedy that next time I come through.
On-topic, here's a random Mod 4016 I spotted on the edge of Naval Weapons Station Yorktown a while back. This guy seems to have replaced an omni Whelen within the last 4-5 years.
Don't wait. Take a siren photo today.
