P-50/T-135 at its extreme!

Sat Mar 24, 2007 12:47 am

If anyone wants to laugh over the T-135/P-50 here are these amazing links:

http://www.jmarcoz.com/sirens/amarillo_tx.jpg Looks low for a P-50. :D

http://www.vidilife.com/video_play_1067 ... person.htm A person stupid enough to stand under this siren. I guess he doesn't know that 135dB is dangerous to hearing. :o

http://www.airraidsirens.com/images/p50_ad.jpg A person standing inside the monstrous siren for advertising purposes from the Siren Museum(Hope his ears won't bust).

Hope you all like it.

That pole looks too small for that T-135.
Is it a 45 foot class 2 pole? They cost about $3,000.

Couldn't view the video, but I would be directly under it - if I could hold my ears closed.

Probably isn't there anymore as all the sirens in Amarillo are slowly being replaced by 2001s. I saw no ACA sirens only a 2001, T-bolts (including System 2000 or 7000), SD10s, and a 2T22.

This video which was posted here a long while ago, was done by Archon, for the 2004 siren contest. There was no screaming in the original video, just the initil heavy click of the motor starter engaging and or course the siren winding up

Trafficsignals4ever, do you know what happened to Dalhart's system? We drove through there over the summer and all the 2t22's, SD-10's, T-Bolts and 5's were gone. Did they get 2001's too?

I came across that video on the Wikipedia article about sirens and posted it a while back. I have the original so I knew someone had messed with it and turned it into this version.

By the way, I remember on the old board that someone said it is safe to stand directly under a directional siren as the sound is projected away from you. Someone else said he had also stood under an Allertor or some other ACA/American Signal siren that was operating and it the sound was not very loud but you could also hear the motor and the gear drives in the rotator.

4fr, where is that Ruidoso siren? Looks like Colorado.

I plan to stand directly in front of a Thunderbolt on a high school.
As long as I can hold my ears and move away if necessary, I see no problem.
I would stand next to any siren.
My only concern would be if the rotor happened to fly apart and throw shrapnel.
