Thunderbeam in Mexico City?

Wed Apr 18, 2012 2:24 am

Hi,

I think I found a Thunderbeam RSH-10 in Mexico City, Mexico. I have a very crappy screenshot of the (supposed) siren, so here it is:

My question is: Did Mexico ever buy any American sirens? I think this possible T-beam may be a sign towards yes.

Well, anyone know anything about this?

I don't know about Mexico City, but I seem to vividly remember areas down on the Yucatan having Whelen Omni's. The last time I was there was several years ago, but I think someone has some pictures.

That is probably a water tank or a propane tank. You see those on roofs all over Mexico. I did see an STH-10 on a factory in C?rdoba and a Model 5 at the main fire station in Veracruz, though. Many Mexican fire stations have a siren, but citywide systems are rare.

I have no idea where this was taken, but there's definitely Whelen 2900s somewhere in Mexico:

That appears to be from the City of Ciudad Acu?a, across from Del Rio, Texas. Perhaps it's a tornado siren system!!

When we went to Puerto Vallarta 2 years ago, there were Modulators in many locations. Mostly along the beach area. They all had solar panels on them. They were probably there for Tsunami warning. They were all new and hadn't been there when we went 2 years before that.

The city of Puebla supposedly has a siren system to warn of the eruption of the nearby volcano Popocat?petl, but I never saw any sirens during the six weeks that I studied there. The only sounds I ever heard were steam whistles from factories (they still use them!) and lots of church bells.

I don't suppose you have a good explanation as to why you bumped a month old thread just to say that?
