Thunderbolt

Fri Mar 16, 2012 4:52 pm

This is the first Thunderbolt siren I find in my area. This is the only Thunderbolt that I know that is around the South Texas gulf coast area. I will be visiting the fire dept. that has it and if it still works. If it does I will get a video of it and post it. Keeping my fingers crossed that it still works.

Wow, that's the first time I've ever seen a ladder used to mount and hold up a siren. Redneck engineering at its finest!

That isn't a ladder; notice that the cross pieces are angle iron on both sides. It's still an interesting tower, though and certainly not very tall.

Almost looks like it was portable since it has a mounting skid underneath.

Where is that located?
The siren is located in a small lake community. Lagarto, Texas which is about 20 miles away from me.

Didn't find the Thunderbolt, but I did find something. I don't know what it is though.

That siren is located at another nearby volunteer fire dept. I thought it was a Federal model 2 but I believe it is not. I passed by that fire station last weekend and they took that siren down, not sure if for repairs or what.
