ATI's in my city don't sound right, and confusion is an issue.
It sounds wail for tornadoes, and hi-lo for flood. The wail sounds like a hi-lo signal with wind-ups and winddowns. One of my friends stayed out side during a tornado warning because he thought it was a hi-lo signal. That's why I didn't vote for ATI.

ATIs are pretty crappy. I don't know why Nashville installed them no body can here them. They have 3 in downtown Nashville 2 of them less than a mile apart, but they aren't audiable in the daytime traffic. People who live within there supossed mile radious can't here them. They use the steady tone, and only sound them for tornado warnings in metro Nashville/Davidson County

I'm still in love with the t-bolts. Not to mention the new 2001s my city replaced them with in the late 90s are waaaaaay too high pitched, and I often can't hear them over something as simple as thunder. Whereas I could hear the t-bolts no matter where I was in the city.

Of course, it would have o depend on the size of the town.

If i had a town in, say rural Kansas, i'd probably use a mixture of Federal
and ACA. Thunderbolts in the rural areas, and probably Banshees in town.

But if i had an urban town in a suburb of New York City or something
like that, i'd probably use electronic, for reasons such as communicating
whas happening.

I chose older mechanical air raid sirens for the rural Kansas town because:

A. They probably dont have a lot of money to spend on top-of-the-line
sirens.

B. I dont think anyone is gonna aim a nuclear missle at "Ruralville, KS"

C. The only thing that really happens there are tornadoes.

Banshee: Small ACA siren with a 3hp capacitor-start motor, made in both single- and dual-tone versions. They have very large disc-shaped rain deflectors on them and they look like a hat-topped pancake from the ground.
