Kockum Sonics KTG-9: The Siren from Hell

Tue Nov 10, 2009 7:00 am

Okay, so they are not actually from Hell but from Sweden. They seem to be quite popular in Switzerland, and they are air horns rather than a true siren. The owner of the video lists it as a KTG-10, so perhaps there is more than one model of these things. Has anyone ever heard one in person?

Certainly sounds like something from a black and white horror film... Interesting choice of warning signal.

Dang! It DOES sound like something from a horror movie. Some part of it kind of sounded like a semi or train horn.

I seem to recall hearing a recording of something like that a while back, but I couldn't say where it was.

I do believe that the creepier a siren or horn sounds, the better it is! Thanks for posting it. :D

wow, almost reminds me of the last part of TPiR's Losing Horns. In fact, I just ping-pong (forward - reverse - forward, rinse lather repeat) looped that part, added some reverb and got almost the same effect!

Definitely a scary sound. I'll bet you could get a couple of trombonists together and recreate the same effect.

I wouldn't want to be there when that siren sounded. I think these are worse than the ATIs.
