MOD6024 alert + whoop

Fri Sep 11, 2009 12:46 am

Civil Defense conducted their monthly warning siren test, and finally got to test out the hazardous materials warning for the West side of Oahu. I randomly picked a siren out that would sound the whoop tone. KITV4 news showed up, and later Civil Defense was on the scene.

Sadly that whooping tone sounds just like the EOWS series whoop, just slowed down a bit. Can even hear the drivers click on the first video link. Now with the second one, something is definitely wrong with that siren's tone generator. :?

Nice to see more of their sirens have the old CD decal on them :D
The whoop sounds like too long of a cycle.
Proud Owner of too many sirens, lightbars, civil defense items, and diecast cars

Oh man...that second MOD has issues.

Seeing that they were installed prior to 2002 (per the description in the first video), I assume these to be using MCPs and not UltraVoice. I've noticed a lot of the Mod's on YouTube are recent installations while many of the Mods/DSAs in Hawaii are not. I therefore I have to wonder if the hesitation we're hearing is a defect with the MCPs as I've never heard a hesitating UltraVoice (so far as I am aware anyway).

yeah but it seems only prevailant on Hawaii's system only. Watertown's MC on there 612 don't even have this problem.

I wonder if its the salt air?
