Altamont, MO Mystery siren.

Tue Jun 09, 2009 4:24 am

In Alert for a Tornado Warning. They pass the Fire Station where I assume it's at...but being dark it can't be seen.

EDIT:
Can anyone find the siren in Gallatin? I have looked all over on Streetview and can not find it. It looks to be at either a fire station or ambulance station.

The pitch sounds a little low for an STH-10 and a little high for a Model 2, but this is the siren that they have on top of their town hall located nearby, a Darley Model 2.

Haha, I now know why I could not find that siren in Gallatin...its in Altamont! The youtube guy must have his towns mixed up. It sure isn't a STH-10, but I'm not sure what it is. Darley STH-10 or something?

Darley STH-10s use the exact same noise-making parts as a Federal STH-10, so they hold the same pitch. The siren actually is an old Federal Model 2 located right at the back of the fire station.

Ooh it's a Fedelcode Model 2. Sounds a little bit different to normal.

Are you sure it isn't one of the lower pitched STH-10s? I live near one, and it sounds very similar.

I'd be willing to bet money it is that Model 2 since in the video the siren is loudest right at the fire station and because the siren in the picture at the fire station is a Model 2.

It's not a Fedelcode 2, it's just a transition period model 2. Has the same top cap as the later style 2.

Here is a fedelcode/early 2 housing.

I didn't even know that Altamont had a siren. Hey, Adam, do you have picture's of Bethany, MO Sentry 3V8's? I know of four of them, one at the fairgrounds, another at the city hall, one at the north watertower, and one at the Hy-Vee.
