HOR super sirex dual tone Simulation

Sun Nov 25, 2007 10:29 pm

I got bored today, and decided to make a simulation on how I think a dual tone super sirex sounds like.

I took the Madison WI. recording from the siren archive and added a lower tone to it in Goldwave.

And yes, this did send chills up my spine while listening to it.

Great simulation -- I love the wind-down! Your siren, though, would have a 7/9 ratio rather than 7/10. If you want to hear a Super Sirex, this Youtube clip has the exact tone because it is another HOR model with the same port ratio:

What you created is something I would like to try to build if I had machining skills: a 7/9 port siren built like an E-57 with a single, dual-row rotor. The dissonant sound would really grab attention.

very eerie and dissonant sound indeed. this is diminished fifth / augmented fourth or "tritone", historically known as "diablolus in musica" (devil in music)
Greater Vancouver, 0 active sirens...

Here's a weird one I made a while back, when the question came up about the prototype photos of a 2T22 with a 7/12 ratio. This is what that might sound like:
